Notes on description: 
The original description was based on material from northern Norway, Bossekop. Specimens from southern Scandinavia are usually smaller, rarely exceeding 6 mm, and are frequently darker grey. Nepticula lapponica Wocke. Lectotype ♂ (here designated), Norwegen, Bossekop 28.v.(18)60 (ZIAS).
