Abstract:

The new species Ectoedemia rosae is described from France (Hautes Alpes) near Briancon, reared from leafmines on Rosa tomentosa and from adults collected in Norway, Vang, Døtten, on bushes of Rosa majalis. The species belongs to the Ectoedemia angulifasciella group, and is closely related to E. hexapetalae (Szöcs, 1957) and the Rosa feeders E. rosiphila Puplesis, 1982 from Kazakhstan and E. marmaropa (Braun, 1925) from the USA (Utah). The latter is recorded new for Canada: Alberta on the basis of one female and vacated mines.
