Description
Stigmella ogygia reared from leaf mines in Senecio hispidulus. Voucher number JJS-011026-1.1 On 26 October 2001, I collected 52 leaves from multiple plants in one approx. 5 m by 5 m area, with often multiple mines per leaf. I put everything in one bag and waited. Two Chromatomyia syngenesiae flies eclosed on 1 November 2001. A Stigmella ogygia moth, several Chromatomyia syngenesiae flies, and several of two kinds of wasp had emerged between 2 November and 13 November 2001. A second Stigmella ogygiamoth ecolosed 14 November 2001. This is the adult I've photographed here. By 16 November, 3 more moths and 8 red-eyed wasps had emerged.
